Title: "MEAN DEPTH"

Can anyone tell me exactly what the term "mean depth" means?  Clarks NH Fishing Guide refers to this in describing, in feet, all the different bodies of water they list in the book.  I always assumed they just meant "average depth" but, if that were the case, wouldn't they just say "average depth?"  Can anyone explain?  Thanks.

I believe your right Henry I've always known mean to be average.
