Title: Status on SB 89
Post by: Chris Hoffman on May 01, 2013, 02:39:32 PM
I received an email from my Rep who sat on the panel.  Here is what she said:

"It was voted out of committee today as Ought to pass.  Almost got it killed but lost that by one vote.  Did get an amendment to extend effective date of the ban until June 1, 2016.  I really think this is fueled by Squam Lake Assoc.; they don't want any boats on the lake (my opinion.)."

Pretty interesting last statement!

That wouldn,t suprise me. anytime Iv'e talked to one of them they never have anything good to say. To bad they wouldn't look at how much we bring to the economy for the squam lake area. almost makes me want to stop setting up tourneys on squam.

I hear you Tracy but we can't do that. We would be feeding into exactly what they want. That is exactly what the majority of this bill is driven by. They don't want us on "their" lake.  Makes me want to have all 8 club tournaments on Squam Lake next year!!!

Guys - I have been writing my reps regularly.   The reps that oppose SB 89 are outnumbered from what I am being told.  We have to get our voice heard in a major way.  These lake associations have deep pockets and many are retired so they can attend the sessions.

My reps that are in opposition need for us to write to our state reps.  There has to be more anglers that oppose this bill than there lake front property owners,   We need to get our voice heard.  Write your reps
