Hey Bob, I tried to fish the Monday trail on Squam last Monday, but got sick about an hour into it and had to leave. Too bad, because they were biting pretty good. Chris, Marc, Joe and Ryan headed off to Champlain on Friday and are coming back some time on Sunday. They better have pictures because I won't believe the fish tales otherwise. ;)

Champlain = embarrassing
TI was unbelievably bad. We fished Saturday and caught a total of 4 fish between 4 fisherman. I didn't get a bite. All other bass boats coming off the water all said the same thing, "they've never seen TI like this". One guy told me that in May, a common day would be 75-100 fish a day. Not sure what was going on but it was scary bad. It was a ghost town out there, couldn't find them anywhere. Then Chris had an issue with his trolling motor so we decided to come back early Sunday morning. It was still fun though.

Yeah Joe it still was a good time! Dinner and drinks were fun!
I brought my boat down to Barry's yesterday after work to have Jim look at my trolling motor. Well not so good news, he opened the motor housing and there was water in there which caused the motor to short out. There was also a burn spot on the outside of the motor housing, which he said was from the motor shorting out.
He also noted that the circuit board underneath the foot pedal was shorting out was well.
He gave me both good and bad news. The good news is that the circuit boat is covered under the 2 year warranty, but the armature coming off the motor was out of tolerance and most likely isn't covered, as it has a 30 day warranty. Though he said he will take a better look at it today and see what he can get Minn Kota to cover. I called Minn Kota and they said the armature would be covered and there is no such 30 day warranty on the armature.
I am not knocking Barry's as I told he does great work and is EXTREMELY REPUTIBLE!!! I just hope that Minn Kota honors their warranty as I do not see anywhere on the warranty of a 30 day warranty on the armature.

It doesn't sound like things are starting out to good for you this year Chris.

Yeah that was one of the two things I thought it could be. Jim Hanatows had the same thing happen to his. I believe there is a seal that let go which causes the casing to fill with water and its only a matter of time before it shorts out. It sounds like everything will work out though, which is good
