Tough time for all fisherman at this years TBF Divisional Championship on the CT river in hartford. Well overall as a state, NH is struggling. We currently sit in 6th place. I just want to take a second to explain how the TBF divisional championship works. So in our division (eastern division) 8 states, NY,MA,NH,VT,CT,ME,RI,Ontario send the top 12 fisherman to the divisional (the lake choice is chosen by the host state which rotates every year) From that they compete as a team in a 3 day tournament against the other 7 states for a cash payout. A total team weight determines their finishing position. But while you are competing as a team you are also fishing against the other 11 guys from your state. The top 2 fisherman from each state are then sent to Nationals the following spring. From there is where someone can really hit it big. Sorry but I get asked often and I wanted to clarify for those who weren't sure.
But as it stands right now Matt Thoin of Monadnock Bass is currently leading NH with a 2 day total of 15.14lbs (that's how tough it is down there) followed closely by Dave Tsao and Bryan Dexter. The big news for the NH Bass Hunters is our very own Scott Davis is in 4th place!!! While he's 6lbs off the lead he's only 4lbs off second. But the thing to note is some of NH best fisherman have come in with multiple zeros so Scott could very easily win NH if any of the leaders struggle tomorrow. If that happens he would be on his way to NATIONALS!! :) Ill post more news as it comes in. Go get em Scott!!! This is why everyone should do the STQT, a few good days out on the water can lead to Nationals and a chance at a nice pay day. Not to mention the fact of getting to fish against some of the best fisherman in the country.

Scott - Great job! How did you finish up on the final day?
-
Scott and many others struggled the third day. But Scott held his own against some of the best around and finished a very respectable 5th for NH. Great job Scott!! Finishing first was Matt Thoin. Matt put more time in pre fishing down in CT than anyone and it paid off! Matt was also very active with coordinating and raising money for the state team. He will be our boater rep at Nationals. Awesome job Matt!! He will be getting $2000 from the NH TBF for expenses. He will also get a brand new Ranger boat to compete in at nationals. Coming in second and going as our non boater is Bryan Dexter. He will be receiving $500 for expenses. The tournament will be next spring. The lake location is yet to be announced though. Great job guys. Next year, NY is the host state and the divisional will be on a lake with BIG fish. So bring your A game at this years STQT for a chance to be on next years State Team. See you all next Saturday morning!
