Petition to stop the latest lead ban attempt
« on: February 15, 2012, 03:55:25 PM »
As many of you already know, there is a Senate Bill 224 that seeks to ban
all bass fishing jigs of 1 oz on down.  It is important that you let the
Senators know how you feel about this.  Let's flood their e-mail boxes in
opposition to this bill.

Please get this link out to as many people as you can.

Hey gang!

I was talking to the owner of a rod and reel repair shop that sells tackle as well and he mentioned the petition to stop lead ban attempt.  He has some serious concerns as a business owner, but also as a fisherman, of the impact this ban could potentially have.  It seems more and more that lake associations and tree huggers are trying to close bodies of water to fishermen throughout the state.   So I would ask that you click on the link that Ryan provided and submit a FORM letter to your representatives.  It was real easy, simply entered your ZIP CODE and the Form Letter will be sent to all the reps in your district/area.

We need to stand united and stop this ban.

Dick Smith, our conservation officer for the NH Bass Federation, has been working overtime on this matter.  He and a few others are representing us on opposing this lead ban bill.  But he needs every fisherman to take 10 minutes to write their senators and oppose the potential ban.  Basically all jig/jig heads up to an 1oz (which is every jig head we own) will be not be allowed on any NH waters.  Your talking about throwing away hundreds if not thousands of dollars in jig heads and then turning around and trying to find a replacement metal (tungsten) which is 5x or more the cost.

I fished the Nashua river in MA yesterday and not until I was in a state that has banned lead did it really hit me just how limited my bait choices were.  It's really scary.  Jig/nope, spider jig/try again, chatter bait/ questionable, shaky head/better luck next time, hair jig/better be tungsten!

These are just some of the baits that will either have to be modified or completely thrown away.  Either way it's going to cost some serious dough unless we act now.  Let's try not to end up like MA who didn't voice their opinion loud enough!!
