HOW THE DAY WENT ON WINNISQUAM
« on: September 28, 2013, 09:37:13 PM »
Small turnout.....6 or7 boats.  At the start the fog was so thick you couldn't see more than 10 feet in front of your boat.  Within the first hour the fog disappeared and, weather wise, we couldn't ask for a more beautiful day.  The water was like glass early and as the day went on, a light breeze and increased boat traffic created a small chop in the water.  Fishing was tough for most of us.  Even though Chris Hoffman had to leave the tourney early due to a family commitment, he took first place with 4 fish weighing 9+ lbs.  He also took both lunker large and lunker smallie.  Chris fished weed lines with a swim bait to get his winning bag.  Good job Chris!!  Also, Don Conrad came in 2nd with a bag weighing 6+ lbs.  Don said he had one that looked like a 4 pounder come off after a short battle.  We've all been there before.  He still had enough to take 2nd place so, good job to you as well Don!!  Also, I want to thank Mark Cibulski (spelling?) for towing me back to the boat ramp.  I was way up to the northern most part of the lake when I blew an in-line fuse to the positive terminal of my battery.  I started to try to use my trolling motor to get back and quickly realized it would be impossible, so I flagged Mark down and he got me back to the ramp.  Again, thanks Mark.  I can't tell you how much I appreciated it.  Hope to see you all at the October meeting.  I believe the plan is to pick next year's lakes, so if you want to have a say where we fish next year you should go to this meeting.

Henry - Great report and it was tough, I did not have a bite until 11:30, lost a smallie on a drop shot and spent the next hour marking fish, but nothing to show for it.  I recalled a weed line that Joe S. told me about.  Pulled out my Pats Perch swimbait and it was the trick.   I had 7 fish off this area 6 bass and 1 pike, but I lost 2 fish and was lucky I pulled a nice smallie in the last 10mins before I had to get off the water early.

To Ryan and Melissa - thanks for meeting me at the mouth to weigh-in and to the rest of the group, I appreciate you all allowing me to meet up with Ryan and Melissa on the water.

To Mark Chibulski -  way to go helping out Henry.  This is what I love about our club.  It's all about helping each other and not about the money.

Mark - funny but that's what happened to me.  I didn't have a bite until 11:45 I had a smallie on a DS and lost it. I was frustrated as hell Then I recalled a submerged weed line and started throwning the swimbait. I was going for broke and landed all my fish in the last hour before had to get off the water at 1pm.   I got lucky!
