Installation of electronics ... is it labor intensive?
« on: March 05, 2012, 12:12:41 PM »
Hey Gang,

I was thinking about making an attempt at installing my elctronics at the console and then mount the transducer to the jackplate, I am not sure how labor intensive this will be.  Has anyone attempted this in the past or should I pay the $300-400 on the install?  I contacted Barry's and that is what he quoted me for install?  Is that high or on par for an install?

I would like to try the install, but not sure if I have all the right tools and don't want to start drilling holes in the new boat if I do not have to.

I currently have a glassed in transducer that I plan to use from the previous unit, so I should only need to run the side imaging transducer to the jack plate.

Any advice, tips or tricks is appreciated!!!!

Chris H.

I wired all mine up myself I didn't find it that difficult.  I used a coat hanger to fish the wires through the existing conduit in the boat. I didn't have to make any new holes in the boat I mounted my structure scan/side imaging to my Jackplate.  almost any questions I had I could run a search for on BassBoatCentral.com and find an answer for it.  Good Luck so the ole lady broke down and let you get your electronics good job bud, persistence pays off! haha

Yeah man!  Cabelas has a 0% for 12 months promo for the HB 800, 900 and 1100 series til 11 MARCH.

Did you run the power off the fuse panel or did you go straight to the battery with a 1AMP fuse connection?  Once the weather warms a bit more I am going to take a look and see about doing it myself.

When you were on BBC what did you use for a search?

I really only had questions about mounting the structure scan transducer so that was my search.  I wired it into my fuse panel on its own separate fuse if I remember right.
